The Best Excursion From Maui

Hey Adventure Seekers!

Did you know the island of Lanai is only about a 90 minute cruise from Maui?  With a population of 3,102 and only three hotels, Lanai is an island of ultimate seclusion.  If you like exploring under the sea,  cruising the Pacific on a Catamaran and soaking up the sun, this excursion should definitely be on your itinerary for the perfect Maui escape!

The Tour:

Discover Lanai Tour with Trilogy!  A snorkel excursion to Lanai on a catamaran.

We chose Lanai (rather than Molokini) because we heard it was a little less crowded than Molokini and we wanted something that felt more intimate. I'm very happy we chose Lanai.  It was incredible!  The pictures in this post (unless otherwise noted) were provided by: Island Dream Productions   Thank you, Josh, for capturing us so we could thoroughly enjoy the experience!

Tour Highlights:

The Food

As soon as you board the boat, you're offered a selection of fruit, cinnamon rolls and coffee!  Accompanied with some Hawaiian music playing in the background, the mood is set for a lovely day!  After snorkeling, you'll enjoy a delicious Chicken BBQ for lunch!

The Crew & Level of Service

One of the best I've experienced. The company has been around since the 70s and their excellence shows throughout this tour.  They thought of everything:  Food, sunscreen, even the bathroom on the boat was very clean!  The guys were really cool and they made the day so much fun!

Lanai

Obviously! It's great to get to visit another island on your Hawaiian vacation!  One of the great things about Maui is that you can easily do a day trip to Lanai because it's pretty close!  It was really incredible to see the landscape as we were approaching the island!

A short walk from where you snorkel, to Puu Pehe (Sweetheart Rock).  Shot on Go Pro

Secluded Beach

Hulopo'e Beach, where we snorkeled felt like our own private beach, and it kind of is!  Trilogy has exclusive access to this beach just for the group!  Our group of about 20, felt very small!  We had so much room to spread out and explore!

Marine Life

Obviously you'll see some great marine life and you might even spot a pod spinner dolphins on your way to Lanai!  The snorkeling is great!  I haven't been snorkeling since I was about 10 years old and I felt like a kid at Disney World.  Loved it!  The gear they provide is top notch!

Ready to go!  It was a little chilly in the morning, but we quickly shed our layers!

Cruising on a Catamaran

Everything is better on a boat right?!  There are nets on the front of the boat, perfect for sunbathing!  You'll have great views of the islands (Lanai, Maui, and Moloka'i) throughout the ride.

The Sapphire Blue Waters of the Pacific

Did I mention I'm in love with the Pacific Ocean?  I was mesmerized by the water color, which was so smooth the day of our trip!

No doubt this was one of our favorite days of our entire trip to Maui! I definitely recommend Trilogy and I will probably go on a tour with them again if we return to Maui!

The Deets:

  • Cost: $205 per person.  Includes breakfast, a delicious BBQ chicken lunch, 2 adult beverages on the return trip and a tasty treat!
  • Tours are Monday- Fridays, 6:30am or 10:00 am departure.  We chose the early morning because we thought the snorkeling might be best.  It was awesome!
  • Group of 20 people. Trust me if felt very small!  I do not like big tours and this did not feel like that at all!
  • The tour is about 8 hours in length, trust me it FLEW by!  I never say this, but I would have liked it if it was longer. Probably part of their strategy...leave you wanting more!
  • Bring clothes to change into after snorkeling, sunscreen (they provide some though), towel, and a waterproof camera to capture this fun day!
  • Upgrades available: SNUBA and Island Tour of Lanai

I had a blast pretending to be a mermaid and I was the last one out of the water(pretty typical)! If you're planning a trip to Maui I highly recommend doing this excursion!  We talked about it for our entire trip!

Here's a short video from our trip!

*This is NOT a sponsored post*   I was not given anything to write this post. I paid the same price of the tour as everyone else.  This is my completely unbiased review!
